Coming from a surfing family, the Portuguese junior champion of 2013 is considered now a semi-athlete in the surfing universe. Besides being a surfer, at 22 years old, Ana Sarmento is a Sport and Exercise Psychology student in the Rio Maior Sport University.
With her dad’s helps she began surfing at the age of 12 when he moved from Lisbon to Ericeira, on the beginning in events like the Billabong Girls. She started training at the Ribeira D’Ilhas Surf Camp in Ericeira with Pyrrait as her surf teacher and coach.
Ana Sarmento has competed in some WQS [World Qualifying Series] events in Europe, European Pro Junior and was in several world and european events representing Portugal. The last three years she was regularly ranked among the five best national surfers.
