Mafalda Lopes is the new Semente Surfboards’ team rider. The surfer from Costa de Caparica joins the Ericeira brand and from now on she will surf and compete with our high-performance boards.
The 2019 European Junior Champion is one of the best Portuguese surfers of her generation still having a long curve of progression and a promising future in Portugal and internationally. Over the past few years, she has stood out consistently in Liga MEO Surf (Portuguese national championship) having been Top 3 in 2017, 2019 and 2021 reaching several event finals.
The 22-year-old athlete won the Caparica Surf Fest last April with a Semente board under her feet showing an excellent level of surfing on Paraíso beach, Costa de Caparica. This event was the last of the 2022/2023 World Surf League European Qualifying Series season and ended up in the best possible way with a victory for the Portuguese surfer who had already been runner-up in this event in 2021. And it was also at the end of that year that she ended European runner-up.
Owner of solid rail surfing and taking more and more risks with progressive maneuvers, it was also in 2021 that she made headlines around the world after risking everything in an aerial reverse that earned her a perfect score of 10 points in the European Qualifying Series event in the Azores.
Mafalda Lopes aims to qualify for the World Championship Tour having competed last year on the Challenger Series where she got experience in the circuit that gives access to the 1st division of world surfing.
