Semente update about surfboards for this end of winter. The brand resumes the work of the last months and the wave quality in Portugal. Shaper and brand co-owner Nick Uricchio shares a message with the surfing community.
“We are approaching the end of what has been an amazing winter thus far. Nonstop offshore winds have been blowing for weeks now, and they don’t look to stop soon. Swells have been running back-to-back without a flaw, all long period and all clean, ranging from 3-12 feet in size. With the range of size and power of the waves we have seen, it is the right time to sort out your board quiver and fill in the missing holes, or find that perfect step up for the solid days.
It is impossible to generalize when it comes to suggesting the perfect board for winter. All surfers are different in so many ways. Age, weight, surfing level, style, type of waves you surf, and taste in general all play a role in that choice. I suggest that you base your choice on your personal history of past boards and what worked or lacked in those boards. From a board builder’s point of view, I would strongly suggest talking to your shaper to finalize your ideas on your new board.
Here at Semente, we’ve been experimenting with new ideas and working with our team riders to create boards for all conditions. This winter, we’ve seen a lot of interest in twin fins for solid surf, 4-fin variations, and slight changes on existing thruster models. Our latest model, “The Stray,” has also proven its worth in larger surf than expected. We’ve also been busy making Madeira guns and Nazare tow boards.
If you’re missing something in your quiver, we’re here to help. Whether you need one of our existing models or a custom board, our shaping team can set you up with what you need. Contact us today to get started.”
