Portugal as always has not let us down coming in to the 2018/19 winter. Waves have been pumping, we have hosted the Nazaré big wave event with amazing waves and once again Portugal has proved its worth on the big wave tour and the world surfing map. There have also been some classic days at a lot of Portugal jewels from North to South.
So what surfboard will you put in your quiver this Winter? Choices for this or any Winter will depend on what you are looking to do, where you plan to do it and your personal surfing level.
Here at Semente Surfboards we have witnessed a rise in demand for our Hitch model as it has proven to be a solid model for barrels and down the line waves. This model has been refined a bit since its introduction and has also been built as a quad for a few slab riders. The paddle power and drive have made this model a must for a lot of surfers in more serious conditions.
Our W.E.K. step up (as a quad) has also picked up in demand with a lot of young chargers taking advantage of our feedback from the master of slabs Nic Von Rupp. This board is designed to be dependable in the thickest hollowest conditions possible and will fulfill your “wildest dreams“ or “worst nightmares” for those of you who like to play on the dark side.
Our Talisman has also been revised and has become a better all-around surfboard for day to day winter surfing in surf up to 6-8 foot.
Groms have been knocking on our door recently for step ups of our Firestarter model and we have turned out some mini guns from 5’2″-5’8″ most as pin tails with a 3-fin setup for Hawaii Indo and solid days here in Portugal.
For anyone else if you already have one of our models that suits you but want to adjust it to solid winter surf contact our shaping team and we can customize measurements to make that possible.
Wishing you all great waves for 2019!
