Lua Escudeiro

Lua Escudeiro was born on 26th September 2007 in Tavira, Algarve. She now has 18 years old being part of the new generation of Portuguese surfers and is one of the emerging talents who have been making a name for themselves both nationally and internationally. With Portuguese and global women’s surfing going through its best-ever phase in terms of performance, the surfer from Tavira—who lived in Olhão from the age of two—has been focused on hard work and evolution, achieving remarkable results.

Raised by surfer parents, she has strong family support, which enabled her to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional surfer by moving to Ericeira in 2023, the paradise of perfect waves in Portugal that has helped her progress rapidly.

In 2025, she became national Under-18 champion, national Pro Junior Under-20 runner-up, and had her best-ever year on the Liga MEO, finishing among the top five Portuguese surfers and receiving the “Junior of the Year” award from the National Surfers Association. Internationally, she finished in the Top 10 of the European Pro Junior Tour, securing 7th place in the rankings. Prior to that, in 2023, she had already achieved the title of national Under-16 runner-up and became national champion of the Rip Curl GromSearch, reaching the European final where she finished 4th.

With strong rail surfing, solid maneuvers, and increasingly consistent performances, the future looks bright for the athlete, who has already represented the national team several times in international competitions.

Lua Escudeiro’s goals include finishing in the top 10 at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, which will take place soon in Peru, and, in 2026, fighting for qualification for the WSL World Junior Championship and claiming the national Under-20 junior title.
