13 years old

Martim Fortes is an Ericeira grom that started surfing in 2009 along with his twin brother when he was just three years old. With surfer parents, Miguel Fortes (ex-portuguese top rider from the 90’s and one of the best at Coxos) and Rita Rocha, since early days he showed to be comfortable on the water and skateboarding as well.

At 10 years old he attended his first championship organized by the Ericeira Surf Club (ESC) showing already a competitive profile that showed the experience shared by his father and coach.

In 2018 he made his debut on the Under 12 regional championship winning the event in Ribeira D’Ilhas beach and finishing 3rd overall on the portuguese groms championship.

2019 was a very important year for the young surfer clinching the Under 14 Regional ESC Championship title.

He started full gas in 2020 with a win on the Center Regional Championship in Nazaré. This is a key result to aim for this year’s main goal: Under 14 portuguese champion.

Despite a young age, Martim Fortes has already travelled to search for perfect waves in places like Azores, Morocco, Maldives, Indonesia and Canary Islands.
