Born on November 22nd, 1994, the proximity of the ocean and influence from his family found Vasco with a board under his feet at the age of 5.
He soon realized that competition ran deep in his nature and at the age of 10 he started competing on the national junior circuit. The following year he won the under 12 age category.
At 13 he won the under 14 and under 16 category at the same competition. With only 16 years of age he took his first Pro-junior circuit victory (U-20) and was the youngest athlete ever to win one of the legs of the national surf championship.
Still in the same season he was Junior European Champion U-16. At 17 (2011) Vasco won the national open circuit and placed 2nd at the ISA world junior Championship U-18.
2012 saw him with yet another national championship title also placing 3rd in the world U-18. He also let his presence be known on the WQS with a 5th place at the WQS both at Jeffreys Bay and the Gold Coast.
The year 2013 was marked by a small injury, but that didn’t stop Vasco from finishing in place 3rd on the European Pro Junior Circuit. This result enabled Vasco to take part in some WQS events to gain points and earn his slot in the 6 star primes. He finished this year with a 9th place in the World Junior Championship in Brazil.
2014 was a dream year for Vasco where he won his 3rd national title, European junior title and world junior title.
The year of 2015 he dedicated to the WQS tour and finished a very impressive year at 47th on the World ranking. His dream is to enter the Elite on the World tour, and that is what motivates him to wake up and go surfing every day.
